SDC has been working in the double (Humanitarian-Development) nexus for many years and in 2018 contracted Nordic Consulting Group to conduct an independent evaluation of this work. Against the backdrop of the Evaluation, SDC identified the triple (Humanitarian-Development-Peace) nexus as a key institutional issue and decided to dedicate a Learning Journey (LJ) to the topic.

NCG guided a participatory and iterative LJ process, together with staff at Headquarters, as well as in the field, representing all operational and global divisions within SDC and the Peace and Human Security division. The aim of the LJ was to develop an institutionalized common understanding of the triple nexus for the Swiss International Cooperation.
