Project Summary
The rising burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Malawi presents a significant public health challenge. NCDs, including diabetes and hypertension, have become leading contributors to morbidity and mortality in the country. The World Diabetes Foundation (WDF) has been key donor in advancing NCD care in Malawi, supporting the Ministry of Health (MOH) in the roll-out and expansion of a decentralised model of care with Partners in Health (PIH).
Given WDF's longstanding support, there was an interest in establishing an implementation research program to assess the overall impact of project activities. NCG was contracted to design and implement the implementation research programme, which will follow the project implementation over a 3-year period. The study draws on a mixed methods evaluation design, with data collection across six districts and at four different levels of care - from Central Hospital and District Hospitals to Community Health Centres and community level.
From NCG, the team includes Ayla Olesen Yurtaslan.
