Charlotte has worked in the field of human rights and development for the past 18 years, with extensive experience in the areas of strategic management and leadership; finance and budget control; staff administration and human resources development; and fundraising and donor relations.
Charlotte holds an M.A. in Eastern European Studies, and a Diploma in Strategic Management and has been in several long-term posts for the Danish Institute for Human Rights (DIHR) between 1996 and 2015, lastly as the deputy director in charge of the organisation’s international work. She has been in charge of developing the portfolio of DIHR in relation to human rights development in the new independent states, which emerged from the dissolution of the USSR, in the form of cooperation with justice and police authorities, ombudsinstitutions and key civil society organisations on strengthening their organisational and institutional capacity to promote and protect human rights. Additionally, Charlotte has been deeply involved in cooperation and strategic reforms of ministries of interior in former Yugoslavia, and reform of the federal human rights and minority ministries. Further short-term assignments include desk studies, appraisals, and reviews in areas of human rights and democratisation.
