Dolf has more than 30 years’ experience as a sociologist, regional planner and institutional specialist. His services span the full project cycle, covering both rural and urban development and a number of environment sub-sectors, with a strong focus on evaluation, multi-sectoral studies, and socio-environmental impact.
He holds a B.Sc in Sociology, and an M.A. in Anthropology. Long-term in-country management/technical assistance positions include: Botswana (1976-1980), Zambia (1981-1987), and South Africa (1995-1996). Shorter term assignments have focused heavily on environmental issues including: sustainable management; nature protection and biodiversity; urban environment; climate change; marine environment; water & waste management; green economy; and environmental risks/disaster management. Dolf’s experience includes a number of major evaluations and poverty and socio-economic impact studies, relating to service delivery (water, environment & energy, transport & access; and infrastructure), a number of which have been published.
